Locally Owned Plant Shops in Louisville

Spring has sprung, Louisville, and we’re moving into summer! That means plenty of time spent outdoors, working in gardens, and updating homes. One of the best ways to brighten and freshen any space is with plants–and we’ve picked two of our favorite local places to shop!

Stepping into Mahonia Studio will take your breath away. It is lush, green, and cozy; the front window draws NULU walkers constantly, whisked away into a fantasy of lush, sweet interiors. Planters, terrariums, air plants, succulents, cut flowers, jewelry, and home goods are all available for sale. Beautiful bouquets can be purchased “just because”, but can also be ordered for weddings and parties. Mahonia offers terrarium workshops, floral arrangement, and wreath decorating classes.

Louisville Grows holds a simple mission: “to grow a just and sustainable community in Louisville, Kentucky through urban agriculture, urban tree planting, and environmental education.” Located in Portland, Louisville Grows boasts not only a greenhouse and plants for purchase, but also a Healthy House; the Healthy House “is an engaging, energy efficient, sustainable community space that connects local residents to health, wellness, and green education”.
